What is a template ? A template is how we build your counter tops, fireplaces and anything else you need. We choose to rely on a very old method of templating by using a true tape measure , plastic sheets and small tabs. WHY ? This process is the most accurate, exact way of building stone. There are other methods called digitizers but we do not believe in the system. With our method of template, all existing counter tops need to be removed to assure proper fit. This also allows for Greg to determine the levelness of cabinetry and substrate. This may be an inconvenience, but it is certainly worth it when investing in new surfaces. It is also the correct way of manufacturing to the finest degree.
At the time of template, the client will be introduced to Greg Heil. Greg has had hands on approach since 2000 and is one of two owners. He is passionate as an owner operator. Greg has trained his team with with mindfulness. He is responsible for templating, cutting and installing all slab work. Greg has a zero tolerance for error, therefore he finds it vital that he be responsible for all facets of production. As a true artisan Greg has created unique ways of perfecting fabrication which have not been done in many many years.
One area of the project Greg really enjoys is assisting the client with seam layout and and slab layout at the shop. This will assure that Greg and the client know where each piece is being cut from and how the project will come together as one unit at install. Blackstone has taken the view that we are involved to guide and assist the client into creating what they would like to see.
Lastly the installation of the stone will be scheduled. Greg will return to the site with his assistants to install the materials. At this time, we ask that all clients stand clear for the employees to safely bring tops into the site. Greg will generally give the client an opportunity to see the initial materials and then may ask them to clear the area for a few hours while he install the materials completely. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TAT AT THIS TIME CLIENTS DO GIVE HIM SPACE. Perfection takes focus and although he would enjoy chatting, he knows he cannot do both. In addition many of the glues and adhesives use to install are time sensitive curing glues. This means Greg has to work quickly, without interruption. Once Greg has the install complete, he will clean up his works pace and go over all details with the clients. At this time, Greg will also issue any cleaning products the client may need. He may also go over any notes he made while the project was underway.
As a closure to the install, Greg will also remind the client of his Annual Maintenance Program and what it entails. It is not required but many clients find it enjoyable to have Greg return after 1 year to check on things, offer repairs and go over the kitchen with a fine too comb to keep it looking as great as the day it was installed.
